Well, my muse - that beautiful, inspiring pixie - was with me for a chapter and a half and then was chased away by the normal, every-day grind of work. Frustrating in a way to have hundreds of thousands of carefully crafted words spent on other kinds of writing but hey, that's what is keeping the lights on, so I guess I shouldn't complain.
So, here are another seven thousand plus words on the continuing life of Carl in the queue. I'm already a few thousand words into Chapters five and six but am working to get a few more plot points worked out for chapter five before I can finish it... which is tough because I've gotten excited by what's happening in chapter six and that keeps drawing my attention... when my muse and mood actually show up at the same time to actually work on it that is. Work also continues on my high fantasy novel-length story, though it has been suffering right along with The Dunkarian... but with that one, at least I'm more than 100,000 words in...
Anyway, hope you enjoy and I'm sorry I can't seem to deliver these any faster.

Carl seems to have grabbed a life of his own in my head and the third chapter developed a lot faster than the second... and the fourth is already in the works.
I've uploaded Chapter 3 for posting and I'd imagine it will be up soon. Thank you for the feedback and corrections (I'm still writing without the safety net of editors, so please forgive anything I've missed and just drop me a quick note.)
I've also re-submitted Chapter 2 with corrections as well as something major I missed... apparently in the year it took to get that second chapter out of my head, I forgot how I spelled the name of one of the main characters (and am still doing it every other time I write his name... and no, it is not Carl!). Okay, so I'm still working on my much larger fantasy story and I want to get it at least most of the way finished before beginning to post it here (it is currently over 100,000 words and I'm about 50% done), but, I needed a break from that and Carl just kept looking at me with a silly look on his face. So here we are... I just submitted the next installment for posting. Chapter 2 is a bit shorter than the one-off that started this mess, but I am already working on Chapter 3. Anyway, hope you enjoy!
