If we make it through December, we'll be fine

Merle Haggard had it right. Writing the final parts of the month of December in the story "Band Geek Diary" has been an exercise in frustration, procrastination and the flagellation of my muse. She whipped me first, but I repaid the favor.

I have high hopes that I can stay on track better and post the rest of the story in a timely fashion from this point on. For now, the weekend of December 28 and 29 has been submitted for posting, and I'm putting final touches on a couple hundred words to describe New Year's Eve.

My distracted muse

She struck again. While in the midst of trying to work through another chapter of Band Geek Diary, the muse started chasing an entirely different story. At least she gave me the whole thing this time. I just submitted "Senior Night" for publication. It's a tale of a divorced band parent who has a quick fling with one of the students. I hope you enjoy it.

An overdue update for "All A-Twitter."

I saw the dreaded yellow highlight on my incomplete story. That made me sit down and finish a chapter. I've just submitted Chapter 4 of the story for posting. I hope you enjoy it.

I realize I'm way behind on "Band Geek Diary" as well, but I may be a while on that yet. My muse has been distracting me with other tidbits of prose, and poor John and Katie (and Katie's mom, Becky) have been forced to wait while I plunk at these other stories.

Thank you all for your patience.

An interesting 24 hours, more or less

"Love Has No Pride" has been up for almost 24 hours now and the stats are interesting - even amusing. Over 1,200 downloads and around 80 votes since posting. I have stories up with a lot less activity in a year! The score sucks, but that's part of the amusement. A dozen one-bombs, but almost that many sevens, plus it's the first story I've posted to ever get every possible score. Usually the votes are clustered, like all sevens, eights, nines and tens. Obviously I hit different buttons for different people with this one.

No comments on it, though. Hmm. Looks like people are too busy either fapping or vomiting, looking at the scores.

That fickle muse of mine

I wanted to be working on "Band Geek Diary" today. Instead, I'm finishing up a story that my muse shoveled into my head in the wee hours of the morning. It should be posting soon.

It's a do-over story, where our hero gets a chance to go back and correct that one error he's come to regret. Unlike a lot of do-over stories here on SOL, he doesn't travel back with memories of the future that help make him rich. Neither does he fuck an unending string of high school cheerleaders. He's not a football hero or a computer whiz that beats Bill Gates to the money. He's just a guy who realized, too late, who he actually is deep inside and goes back to the pivotal moment where he can make things right.

"Love Has No Pride" is a quick little 1500 words to, I hope, get my brain clear so I can work on the story that so many of you are actually waiting for from me.
