I love this universe that I've created.
In this future timeline, legalized sex work became the foundation of global society after 2036, turning what was once hidden into a highly visible, thriving industry. Strictly regulated but celebrated, it grew alongside major businesses, filling city streets with neon-lit pleasure clubs and branded chains where sex was openly bought and sold like any other service. Over time, normalization blurred every boundary. Laws mandated intimate acts between family members, schools taught explicit sexual techniques as part of standard career preparation, and the legal age of sex workers was lowered to keep pace with demand. By 2186, the industry that once promised wealth and excitement had become a routine, minimum-wage job, mostly staffed by teenagers who saw spreading their legs, opening their throats, or serving customers however they wished as just another workday task. The system ran smoothly, accepted without question, with no one left who could remember a world where sex wasn’t available at every turn.
As stated in the previous blog, I made an attempt to do a part two of Lila's story. Without spoiling too much (if it were to ever come out), it focused on the necklace to start and its random activations, forcing her to seek out help from Andrew Barrington. This leads her to fall into the hands of Sarah, who sexually tortures her to a physical and mental breaking point. Andrew catches Sarah in the act, then brings Lila back to the mansion, where she meets back up with previous encounters, who all assist her with getting over the trauma she endured. Over all this backfires and swings too far the other way, Lila wanting to be nothing more than a set of holes and giving up school and her lifes ambitions. Andrew knows sex is a huge part of her life, but knows that isn't all she's good for. He tells Lila he has no choice but to send Lila back to Sarah to get fixed properly, undo whatever she truly caused.
And that's what I've got so far. Haven't touched it in months at this point.
I then wrote 4-5 starts to new cyberpunk/future-esque stories, multiple chapters for each, but my interest in each of them faded and I moved on. I wish I could stay more focused on a single project and produce long content that I feel proud to post, but my mind won't let me. I also wish I could organize my content better, into short stories and long form content, but the site is limited. But I appreciate the platform allows me to show my work!
I am currently working on a new story that is 3 chapters long and takes place in the Edge of Obedience Universe. It opens with a girl named Naomi who gets home after a shift at Paradise Sands, exhausted after a long day of servicing multiple men throughout the day. As she's winding down in the shower, her boyfriend wakes up and joins her in the shower. Naomi lets him know she's hurting and asks him to stop, but he proceeds to use her anyway. Raping her. It explains that this has been going on for a while, constant unwanted sexual advances and penetration, and she's finally had enough, running away from him. Without giving too much away, the story continues as she deals with the emotional weight of being used without consent. It builds the world, showing in depth how working as a sex worker is her choice, her choice to give up her body for others' pleasure for a return of financial gain. She has friends at work, an understanding boss, and they help her through the early rough patch of starting fresh.
I have 7+ more chapters planned for this. The problem is that the end of chapter 3 has such a sweet spot ending, so it's once again put a hold on my will to continue. If you're a frequent reader of my content, you'll know there isn't a chapter that goes without some sort of sexual act, usually dominating the scene and deeper plot flowing around it. I do like the plans I've set out for this new story, its very relationship driven, but I can't just throw a rape victim into a sexual relationship. She's broken. And that's okay. Everyone heals at a different pace. But I also can't keep her at work all the time just to have sex, and without the sex to drive the plot, it's putting even more weight on my will to see this through.
My main question is, since I titled the first book "Edge of Obedience", how can I title any new books to reflect that it's in the same universe, but has nothing to do with the first book at all.
Rambling over! Thanks to everyone who reads my content! I appreciate every nice message people send me. :)
