Hey all,
In a lot of ways Jason's Story is my favorite book. I owe so much to the teachers I was lucky to have. I flat out lay all the success I've had in life at the feet of my first grade teacher, a lady named Miss Lowney. (In those days most female teachers were single, in Montana anyway. Married women need not apply.) She's surely passed on by now and me in my selfishness, never thought to stop by and thank her.
I had a History teacher in college who taught like Jason did. We all were spellbound in his classes as he conected disparate factoids of history like James Brurke did in his series "Connections".
Teachers, every one them, drop stones of knowledge into the quiet pools of kids minds and the ripples still wash the shores fifty and sixty years later. Amazing.
And despite the fact that we treat them like shit. They stay on the job.
Thank you for my life.
