@sunseeker

It could be mike & malok by mcguy101

I recall that has music in it

@jps71

I'll try mike again but I think I re-read again a little while ago and don't remember the song being in it.

I remember the mc playing the song as his group came to take care of another group that was plotting against him. He saw them plotting on video and iirc even said at one point, when he was at a specific place in their camp, that this was where they were making plans...

@sunseeker

I was PLANNING on doing that, but I decided to use Beethoven's 5th instead. (Not that I am making any progress. )

@sunseeker

I tried a different tactic, searching combinations of the lyrics (exact match), but none of them were Do-overs or prehistoric.

Samples tried:
"the land of the ice and snow" found 1 story
"the land of ice and snow" found 5 stories [common but incorrect phrasing]
"From the midnight sun" found 1 story
"hammer of the gods" found 2 stories
"Valhalla, I am coming" found 1 story

Many of the stories I found were fantasy, so if it's possible OP misremembered the genre they might fit, but even so I don't think so. For example, in one story I found, "Hammer of the Gods" was the name of an enemy ship. None of the samples looked vaguely like the protagonist was singing.
