Suckage part 2

Tamalain 🚫

My prostate is a total loss. The Lymph nodes in the area are shot. The fourth and fifth ribs on the right side are infected—type 4 cancer. I have started a series of meds. I will discover the joys of menopause. I am a mess.

Be aggressive in your treatment. I don't know where you are, but if the US near any major city, there is a specialized cancer hospital. Go there for an opinion and treatment.
I mentioned my prostate cancer before but the year before I was diagnosed, my wife had breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation and seemed to be cured.
In 2019, 15 years later, a diagnosis of Stage IV metastatic breast cancer with an average survival time of 18-24 months. It had spread to her spine, hip, femur. She went to MSK and after surgery on her femur, again she had radiation and medication.
Five and a half years later she feels great. They really don't use the word remission, but the physicians confirm that there is no active disease process.
The point is that the diagnosis is not a death sentence.
I expect you are worried about the anti-androgen treatment. If so, as I was asked once, "How much sex will you have if you're dead?"

And ask your clinicians whether there are any clinical trials for which you're eligible.

I worked maintenance in a 1200 TPD paper mill for 22 years, I left about 23 years ago. For those that are not familiar, paper mills use harsh chemicals to break down the wood chips into a slurry that can be processed into paper. Lots of details left out. But the bottom line is that the chemicals and the process byproducts are not good for any organic life, humans included.

I've kept in touch with a few of my co-workers that were close friends at that time. Sadly the last of those is deep into dementia and being cared for by his wife of 50+ years. I've used the search engine key words to try and follow news of the 110 fellow maintenance workers as best as possible. Based on conversations, emails and search results I estimate that about 20-25% of the people I worked with succumbed to some form of cancer.

What scares me is whether they overlooked any common warning signs that something was amiss and delayed getting checked out for problems?

So I ask you Tamalain to help us out by remembering your journey to this point and tell us if you could have sought medical diagnosis for any unexplained physical aches and pains that might have caught your current condition before it got as bad as it is?

I ask not to embarrass you, but to help the other denizens of this forum to evaluate their daily lives and see if they (I) need to seek diagnosis of the tiny signs that something may be amiss.

As DBActive has said, I do encourage you to seek aggressive treatment. My niece lived 20+ years longer after her first diagnoses of breast cancer.

Best wishes to you.

Hi

I recently read about a spice called cardamom that has anticancer properties. There are peer reviewed papers published about it on pubmed, and I plan on adding it to my diet. It seems like it has the potential to help. Dr Greger wrote about it in his book, How Not to Die.

Best wishes to you.
