I dont think its used at all in the story. But it feels like a resurrection scroll to bring someone back to life!

In my head, it was a free ticket back to the white room.
There is a similar mechanism mentioned in one of Girvan's stories (or it could be Zen's? I am terrible about keepint it all straight without notes), saying the user was transported out of the dungeon, but it breaks their weapon... the implication being they would be alive, but never able to go back in.
