Using AI To Assist

jcourson50 ๐Ÿšซ

I'm working on a story (my first) and I am admittedly terrible at writing dialog. I'm trying to figure out how to use AI to assist with this part, but the MCs are a mother and daughter (and her boyfriend) and when I've tried different AI tools, they balk at the "incest" theme. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to do this? Thanks

Try using 'step daughter' and 'step mother' and then it's not incest. Build the dialogue, and after that edit it to remove the 'step' bit and fix the rest to make it make sense.

Use step daughter and step mother in the prompt then edit out the 'step's.

Try using Mistral via the API.

Philosophically, the EU AI Act makes for very strict rules, and Le Chat, the consumer visible product is rather unwilling to do anything that might be against community norms anywhere.

At the same time the the AI Act moves the responsibility in B2B interactions to the customers (a "low risk" interactions), so the LLMs are mostly without any filtering, you can activate the filtering you might want via options.

Practice writing dialogue until you're not terrible anymore, if you want to be counted as an author. It's easy. Watch TV and listen to the dialogues. TV writers are usually the kings of dialogue since most shows are dialogue-driven. Then use what you heard to write until it does not sound stupid anymore when you read it aloud. If you can't/won't put in that effort, why do you want to be a writer?
Mind you, I don't want to discourage you, quite the opposite; but using some AI engine will not advance your skills in the least, and you'll turn out a flat sounding piece of tripe. Be better than that!

I didn't know which AI thread to put this in so I chose this one.

I watched Season 2 Episode 2 of "The Pitt" today and a character was showing how to use AI to help speed up their work. Another doctor pointed out an error the AI made. Someone then defined AI as "Almost Intelligent."

Really good series that.

It should be pointed out to those not watching, that the character (Dr Al-Hashimi) was espousing it as a means to write up patient notes taken from a mobile phone app. Her point being that it would free up doctors from time consuming admin to spend more time caring for patients (and thereby earn more money for the hospital). Which mirrored the side plot in the first series, where doctors were supposed to have a strict time allotment per patient.

The counterpoint in the show being, that given the complexities of drug names AI could easily record the wrong drug. This could have serious patient health issues and open hospitals up to litigation which could easily counter any savings the app may bring in.

And that episode had an erect penis in it. (Fake, but still...).

If the erect penis was still, presumably it wasn't moving in and out ;-)

It repeatedly moved in and out of shot, so yes, in that fashion, it was moving...

Great show, erections notwithstanding.

(I don't think I've ever typed 'notwithstanding' anywhere before. Now I've done it twice.)

Already been green lit for a third season, so "Yay!".

Correct, it wasn't with standing, but via a little pill... ๐Ÿคก

The gore on the show doesn't bother me as much as when they injected something into the erect penis. When I saw the needle ready to go in, my eyes snapped shut and I cringed.

By the way, they said the erection would go down quicker if massaged so one of the lady doctors reluctantly did that. So the penis wasn't moving, but the hand on it was.

If y'all like The Pitt , you should like my series Good Medicine, at least starting with Book 05 (though if you start there, you'll miss a lot of background).

Some of the scenes in The Pitt echo scenes I wrote in my series years ago. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Good Medicine,

There's a new American version of the U.K.'s "Doc Martin" series called "Best Medicine." It's not as funny as "Doc Martin," but pretty good so far (only 2 episodes, though).

Does it have amusing patient names?

Dan Gleeballs is my favourite, along with Iona Castle and to keep (semi) on topic, Ben Twilley...

I haven't noticed. But I didn't notice the names on "Doc Martin" either.

Some of the main characters have the same name.

Dr. Martin (Best as last name though)
Louisa (gf who seems to be a school teacher also)
Bert and Al Large

One change is with those annoying teenage girls always walking around and saying something nasty to the doc. Now it's 2 girls and a gay guy.

I tried watching it last night.

Oh dear god....

Sometimes regional quirks don't cross the pond, and this is one of them. I managed to get half way through the first episode, and then it became a choice of turning it off or stabbing myself in the eye with a fork.

I went for the non cutlery option.

I don't know if my problem with it, is because I am so used to the original version, or if it is the actors themselves.

Yeah, but no...
