This is a continuation of the first book. If you liked the first, I think you will like this one. Read the first one. It builds directly from the other. If I didn't want to post shorter stories, it would be all one book. If religious overtones bother you, you probably won't like this or anything else I write.
A Worlds of Light Story (8) Issue #2 in the 'comic book' adventures of Midnight, super heroine of Terana. Midnight is Serenity McKesson, and this is a World of Light story, but the connections are only mentioned in passing. reading the other stories in the World of Light series isn't essential, but reading Children of Light and Weaver and the Wind in particular might prevent some confusion when reading the Midnight stories.
Brian is a simple man, who does a simple job very well, although he cannot read the manuals. He looked after his mother for years but now she is in a care home. Brian married late in life and is finding it hard to reason with his wife. He is proud of each of the three cars he has owned, one after the other, clearly regards the car as a 'she', and appears to believe he converses with it through the voice of the SatNav.

Tepin, a shy Valbaran artist, travels to the Pinwheel in search of inspiration. During his exploration of the space station, he encounters a Krell, a giant alien with an uncanny resemblance to the ancient deities of his people's past. Enamored, he attempts to make friends with the creature, despite their problems communicating and their difference in size.
An alien lands in a lake near a small town in the 1950s. The creature experiments on the population, starting first with human reproduction. No family is safe. Stay away from the water.
