Postmodern Galateas —
A Universe from the Mind of DB_Story
The Postmodern Galateas universe derives from a very old myth. Thousands of years old. It’s the story of the sculptor Pygmalion and his unnamed statue. Unhappy with the women of his time, he sculpted a statue, who was so beautiful that he fell in love with it. Deciding at some point that this wasn’t working out very well as things stood, a love-struck Pygmalion went to the alter of Aphrodite and humbly prayed for a woman like his statue. Seeing a sign from the Goddess that he interpreted as favorable, he returned home. And when he touched his statue, it came alive under his lips and hands. And they lived very happily ever after as far as we know.
We know of the story because Ovid (born March 20, 43 BC) included this myth in his seminal work Metamorphoses (changes in form) published 8 AD. While Ovid was retelling older myths that he had gathered together, it’s hard to say just how much weight he gave to this one. It is only a scant few paragraphs in his much longer work. And yet it has endured for over 2 millennia and is still going strong.
This timeless story has been told and retold again and again endlessly down through ages because it touches something special inside of us. Finding one’s perfect true love. Is there any finer thing?
Centuries later someone decided that the statue needed a name, and they settled on Galatea.
Modern incarnations of the myth include: One Touch of Venus (1948), Mannequin (1987) and the stage play actually named Pygmalion (1913) by George Benard Shaw, which would eventually become the movie My Fair Lady (1964), among many others. All of my Fembot stories are retellings of this myth.
The modern incarnation of Galatea are the love dolls, sex toys if you prefer, or fuck toys as some might say. These Dolls don’t care which term you choose for them. They know what they are. If you consider that Pygmalion and his statue were a proof of concept run, and the idea took awhile to become firmly rooted in the collective consciousness before reaching the critical mass that shapes our universe, then the time has arrived where you step into a world where your love doll just may become the best living partner that you will ever find.
Just a couple of things to remember:
1. A Doll is not a Woman. She may be alive, but she’s still a Doll. Some will consider that a good thing.
2. Even True Love doesn’t always run perfectly smoothly, as hard as it tries to.

Pygmalion and his beautiful statue coming to life was just the proof of concept for a magical secret world that would arrive when the world was ready for it. This is the story that the DOLLS category was created for.
Story #2 of Postmodern Galateas. When a college football jock finds his way into a party of a lifetime—Dolloween—he will find out that the girl who was so very much not his type, may actually be the one of his dreams. And that she might not be exactly what he first thought that she was. Add in a powerful party potion, and anything is possible. Just go with it.
