Disclaimer: this review only covers Volume I.
System of the Beast Slayer starts like a typical Isekai story; the protagonist dies and wakes up in a new body in a new world. What sets this story apart is that it plays in the world of the Witcher video game series. Having only watched the television series on Netflix, I'm not as well versed in the lore and gamers would be, but I find the story easy to follow and entertaining to read.
CaffeinatedTales pays a lot of attention to detail, which makes the story come alive. At the same time, the story could use an editor to help fix mistakes. I've reported some of the worst mistakes myself and the author was quick to fix these, so by the time you read this review, the quality will already have improved.
The plot is good and fits the Witcher story line well. I appreciate that we're not following Geralt of Rivia, but that the protagonist apprentices with a -to me- unknown witcher. It makes this story easier to follow and the plot more exciting since it deviates from the known story line.
Overall, I can recommend giving this story a read, especially if you enjoy the Witcher franchise or Isekai stories.
