I may suck at keeping deadlines and dates, but I did promise none of these stories would go to inactive, and I intend to keep that particular promise. One of the things about the way I've been writing lately is that I have full chapters ready to go... but no bridge to get there. Well, I finally built the bridge for a few chapters in "The Dragon Tamers." So, you guys will be seeing the next chapter tomorrow! It's a bit longer than the others, and it's a lot of talking, but we finally get to learn a bit about Roscrow. Is he a dick? I'll let you decide. He's certainly a dick in my head. Fickle as a damn cat. No wonder he hates the werewolves.
Speaking of werewolves, my editor is slacking (I've reminded him that there are only 52 weeks in a year and there are 60 chapters, so if he'd like to see less wolf dick, finishing it faster would be better. There's also money, but he's refused the offer so... I wait and have fun harassing him, with permission), so I kicked all the furries out and have been coaxing the elves back slowly with all sorts of music (this is the one that brought Roscrow back). Before the drama llama visited my family circle and spat in everyone's faces, Roan had naughty intentions for Cylthan in this upcoming chapter. However, he's been MIA. Cylthan thinks this is great. She didn't like that scene to begin with. She likes the original path better. As such, since I have a couple of chapters ready to go with "The Dragon Tamers," I am gonna focus on bridging the gap to reach the 3 chapters already written for after those two get back to the castle. Just gotta get there, and if Roan's gonna continue to be absent for this, Cylthan's just gonna run amok making him seem like a fool... especially when his rat likes her too much to change back! Better not touch her, Bern. Those teeth are sharper than Daddy kitty's claws!
I'm still working through life shit. I'm writing when I can, which has sadly been next to never. Waiting for some genuine quiet. So, since I finally got to some finished content, I'm going to draw that out as long as I can. To keep away the dreaded "inactives," I will post every other Friday until I either get my groove back and can actually bridge a few more chapters or I'm stuck back in the same spot. At every other Friday, that does give me a month to clean up and flesh out some more of these summaries. I'm sure you guys will notice them. It is a rough draft so I won't try too hard.
I'll keep you all updated about "The Rat and the Dragon." Maybe next week, but for all of my best intentions, maybe take my timelines with a grain of salt. My intentions are there, but until this writing thing makes me money, family demands that everything else comes first.
As for "Mongrels and Music..." Kupper doesn't come out when I ask. I've never had a strong connection with Zigz. I had a brief connection to a native critter, to see the godly legend from their view, but it was so brief that I could not finish all that was conveyed. Unlike the other 2 stories, I'm writing this from scratch. There's no summaries, there's no fancy sentences or anything. It's the "start to finish" kind of writing. And it only happens when he speaks. I will do what I can with that one. He left me with so many good ideas, but I will follow the voices already talking rather than try to force one. He'll speak when he's ready, and I will quiet all the rest at that time.
Hope you're all excited about tomorrow! I know I'm excited whenever I make new content. *opens her own story document* Huh, the author didn't update... oh wait, that's me! Shit.
For those of you not following my other pen name, I made a couple of blog posts about what I'm currently up to.
If you don't feel like clicking it, in a nutshell, the elves and the werewolves have never gotten along inside my head. Since my "editor" agreed to go through my werewolf novel and help me get [self]published, I had to let the furries and werebeasts back in after spending weeks trying to air out the wet dog smell once "In the Enemy's Territory" was finished.
Roscrow is beyond disgusted. You guys have no idea. He kink shames, shamelessly. "It's bad enough they are people who look like I should wipe my feet on them at the doorstep, now they are fucking their sisters? How am I stuck in here?" That's right, Roscrow. You are stuck in here. Forever. Oh, look. Vollie likes you!
While the elves don't mind sharing with each other, they want nothing to do with the dog people. It bothers them to no end. Even songs that normally bring them out for a scene or two does nothing now. Even Kupper noticed the yapping and decided his revenge could wait. Cylthan was the last hold out because she's not prejudice against anyone, but even she couldn't hang much longer. Ugh, was almost done with that next chapter, too.
When will I be back? I dunno. Whenever the elves feel like it. Whenever the werewolves stop tracking in their muddy paws, damn heathen beasts. Who let the dogs in? Me. That would be me. I'm... really not sorry. Actually, quite pleased with myself.
You know what else I'm pleased with? This editing process. It's been great! *holds up her thumbs with tears streaming down her face* It's what I've always wanted! *curls in a ball* This has been the best learning experience! *weeps on the floor* But in all seriousness, the man is ruthless, and I love it. He was being nice with Dragon Tamer because I told him it wasn't in any final stage and could still change. This time, I told him carve me up like a roast turkey, no remorse, no mercy, and he has done just that! It's his first time doing this whole process, and I'm not gonna let it be his last....
To my readers. I'm sorry that this week will be a short posting block and not as satisfying as I had hoped. Some things happened in my life in the last week that have taken all my desire to write. It all happened so fast, I feel like I have whiplash. Things aren't okay. I will not explain it to a bunch of nameless, faceless strangers, but you are my readers and I just want you to know that I don't know when I will be okay again. It's not even a lack of time but rather a lack of mental capacity. I had many chapters ahead on "The Rat and the Dragon" as well as "The Dragon Tamers" but they are all in pieces. Summaries still waiting on expansion, disembodied scenes just floating by themselves, lots of singular sentences that sounded really cool. When my head was in the game, I could push all those bits together in an afternoon and have it ready for you guys on time since I was already most of the way there. I just don't have it in me to sit and string it all together into readable material now. With "Mongrels and Music" I was working on that next chapter, but everything hit me like a goddamn house and I was doing my best to keep the brave face. But, like Dal from Star Trek Prodigy said "I can put on a brave face, usually just long enough to get by." I was ignoring it all as long as I could. Don't think, just write. But writing requires thinking and the thoughts aren't kind right now, no matter how loud the characters try to yell over it. I don't know when I'll be okay again. I don't know when I'll write again.
I'm not saying goodbye, just... no more schedule, for now. If I have it in me to do, I will. If not, I just won't. If you hate that, guess what? I hate it, too.
So, no post for "Mongrels and Music" this week. Sorry.
On Friday, we finally get Roscrow in the mix for good. I was gonna say with joy that now that we have him, we're stuck with him, but it may be a while before we really get into his head. But, hey, that sexual attraction between him and S're starts pretty much right away, even though neither wants to admit it. Jasper may have noticed...
And Saturday. Ah, my star couple (based on votes and views). Literally the only reason I'm posting this weekend at all is to not leave you all hanging on Roan's last words. You'll be seeing the tags get updated. That whole young and naive thing really sucks for Cylthan. She really has no idea about her own body. And that 'elves have heats' thing might have been effecting her judgment. Roan doesn't mind, though.
Thank you to all who read my work. Most especially an extra BIG thanks to those of you who actually read the blogs to know what's going on. I feel bad to do this, but until I'm actually making money off my writing, it is only a hobby, one that comes after, well, everything else. I hope you all enjoy the chapters this week. Maybe this break will be short, maybe it will be long. With how suddenly Life hit me, who TF even knows. May you all have some pleasantness in your day.
I know it does not say so. For whatever reason, there was an issue with the site and no update is shown. No email was sent to tell me it was posted. Even the yellow tag that should show it says it hasn't been touched... but chapter 10 is there! I've been told by a couple other authors that the same has happened to them. Must be a site bug.
I admit, I may change things later, but I want it to be really obvious Cylthan's naive. She's never even slept in a bed. This is the longest she's dealt with any single person. She genuinely doesn't understand cruelty or evil or why anyone would want to hurt her. Draen really isn't much better having lived in a jungle all his life, he's just more cautious. Later, there will be a show down between Roan and Draen that proves once and for all Roan is way out of his league with "big, bad kitty daddy." Without help, there would be no way. Good thing for him, help is on the way. But first... he must foul her purity.
And I simply must spill a few beans. I'm too excited. For those of you who saw the previous blog and excerpt about it, I say Roan has competition for Cylthan's heart. Not that it's much of a contest, honestly, as we all know who's gonna win, but I'll keep the how to myself. However, in her ping ponging back and forth (Roan has to sleep while the elves play), Cylthan learns about actual romance. Dating. And dancing. I dropped the song she and Roan's enemy dance to. Jake Daniels "A Little Bit." He's a lot messed up. Potion Master is such an unassuming title for the most dangerous profession.
Not to be outdone, Roan reveals he can dance. The Seekers tend to have a lot of time to fuck about between missions, and Jorsam had insisted he learn more than just killing things. I figured I'd wait for the 30-50,000 words that have to come before any of this to even consider their song... but my Playlist had other plans for me. When Cylthan dares him to dress up nice and take her on a date, of course it leads to a dance. Their song is "Madness" by Muse. Every single word is perfect. The beat, the vibe. Near the end of the song, they stop their dance for a make out session that empties the tavern just in case they start fucking on the floor. Bartender's like "g-guys... there's, um, there's rooms upstairs, you know?" Truly, their love is m-m-m-madness.
So, I've noticed I'm not showing up on the home page at all now. Not just my blogs, but "The Rat and the Dragon" update didn't even show up! It didn't even show up on its own story! If you all look, there is chapter 10 available. I have sent a message to the webmaster about my not showing up the other day, but am still waiting to hear back. Really annoying, especially because that's the story everyone is waiting on! I usually have 100 views within the hour of posting an update for it. I've even seen as high as 1,000 views in a day! So I was surprised to see almost no views after several hours and checked and I was nowhere on the home page, not even the update! I don't know if it's true for everyone that I have vanished. Since I started this pen name, it has given me nothing but trouble. The werewolves must be pissed I left them on the side of the road....
