Hello everyone:
March and April were not the writing months I'd hoped for. Far too much family stuff came up. Not bad, but a lot.
I am currently hoping for late June for the start of Book 7. I would much prefer to be able to publish steadily, once started, than stop and start.
Thank you all for your patience! As the move settles down, things should get better. But that's still very much a work in progress. Our new home is quite liveable, but the old house is still far too full of our stuff, and we need to get it cleaned out and sold.
And thank you for your patience as I get back going. I should have updated my blog considerably more, and I have a very large number of SoL mail messages to reply to. I'm starting to work my way through them.
Finally, thank you all so much for your support in the Clitorides voting. I'm stunned, grateful, and very appreciative!
As some of you know, I am in the middle of a slow-motion international retirement move. Enough of the move is done that the new house is comfortable, well-equipped, and easy to live in. However, the old house is still full of far too much stuff, and has a mortgage, property taxes, and all of that. With that in mind, there will be lots of time spent on downsizing and clearing out, which takes away from writing time. I'm also still establishing a routine here and figuring out what works for me. Also, living in the old house will get progressively less efficient as more things are moved out.
With all of that in mind, I have decided to finish posting Book 6 at 2 chapters/week, Monday and Thursday. That adds only a little time, since there are only 7 chapters to go.
The current plan is to start posting Book 7 in April. If I can get to where 2x/week is a viable posting pace before then, I will start early, announcing it as a blog post. Note that 'April' is not well-defined. Somewhere in the month, but that's all for now.
I'll be around and am always happy to get messages (even critical ones). I may reply slowly, though (as I am now).
I hope (but cannot promise) to get the updated Book 1 (and possibly later books) out during the gap. They take little time, comparatively, and the mental load of editing and updating is much different from that of writing. That, and the work is done now, barring some editing on later chapters.
Thank you for reading, and for your patience!
(Fairly) long ago I mentioned, in the comment section, that some two-chapter days were coming (both as in 'two chapters published in a day' and also 'two chapters covering the same day'). We have reached that point. Friday will have chapters 55 and 56. The following Monday (the 19th) will have chapters 57 and 58. Other days will be single-chapter on the usual schedule, so these are nominally 'bonus chapters.' In both cases, I easily could have just made each day a (very) long chapter, but I feel like the split makes sense.
Monday's installment of Variation on a Theme, Book 6, will have two chapters, 37 and 38. This is either 1) an early birthday present for Cammie, Paige, and Steve or 2) my not wanting to leave even an inadvertent cliffhanger hanging. Take your pick, and both can be right.
There will be a Wednesday and Friday post as expected; this double post does not replace anything, it's a bonus.
Posting days for Variation on a Theme, Book 6 will be Monday/Wednesday/Friday as of next week. Saturday (or other non-posting days) may sometimes get bonus chapters.
As previously mentioned, there will be at least two days on which two chapters post. I have two story days that take two chapters to cover, and each day will post together. Those days are back to back in the story. The chapter length was set to make the chapter lengths make sense in the completed book, not create artificial cliffhangers.
As always, I hope you're enjoying the story! I love getting comments from readers, whether in the comments section or via SoL-mail. Questions, too!
Thanks for reading! Enjoy, and I hope to hear from you soon!
