Free lunch started out as a sort of fantasy and I suppose it still is, but romance or something reared its head. When I set out writing I intended that every story would be different but many of the more recent ones seem to have become variations on a theme. Must do better. The other curious thing is that the less sex I put in the more people seem to like them. Have I said that before? Have I wondered if I write bout sex incredibly badly. Probably.
Lots of feedback to which I have replied, much of it on scores. My blog was a bit tongue in cheek but it's funny that every time scores are mentioned there is a storm of comment. I don't actually take a lot of notice of them, if I am reading I don't even bother to look at them. I'd just get rid of them except that they do generate correspondence which is often fun!
I got the idea for this when I was tidying up the front hedge which is at least as bad as the story says. I did see a young mum who smiled at me aa year or so back and this is the result. I don't understand it either, I think I am going soft in my dotage.
Now, can I just ask about US arithmetic teaching (we only call the difficult stuff mathematics). If I have votes between 7 and 9 and they are averaged - add them up and divide by the number of them, how the **** does it come out at 6.95?
This story is based on something I read as a child. It came back to me the other day after probably sixty years. Is the brain amazing or am I losing it? Hmm. Obviously the original was suitable for children which this isn't.
I put this up last night and I said in my previous blog that I really wasn't too sure about it, but the voting is interesting. Out of 440 downloads 6 people voted, so well below average. One was a 10 - thanks but it really isn't that good. One was a 1, surely not that bad? And there are two 5s and two 7s which seem to me to be about right, well they reflect my feelings about the story.
